Ambleside is a great center for walking and cycling, with access to easy, strenuous, difficult and darn right dangerous routes which are great ways to see the lakescape, get exercise and have fun. Tourist Information Centres carry walks and cycle route leaflets to get you on your way. Walking is free! Bring some good strong shoes or walking gear. Flip flops and stilettos are not recommended for high peaks!!

Things to do around Ambleside? Well, you can climb this lot for a start. Sit and rest, be amazed at the views and walk down ready for a good meal in one of Amblesides many pubs and restuarants and places to eat and then get a good nights sleep at Ambleside Backpackers.
There are hundreds of amazing views (like from the top of Red Screes above) around Ambleside and in The Lake district, and many tourist attractions (Beatrix Potter homes and museums), historic houses, and industrial heritage sites to visit too. Either a great experiance in excercise, or a great experiance in taking in stuff -the choice is yours.
